As a BZZ agent I was able to try out this product for free. I was not able to try it out because of the ingredients it contains. It contains lye which is what is in a relaxer or texturizer. According to the manufacturer, this is what it has in it:
Product Ingredients: Protein smoothing treatment ingredients: water, cysteine HCL, ethanolamine, sodium bicarbonate, urea, hydroxyethylcelluse, ethanolamine thioglycolate, ppg 1 peg 9 lauryl glycol ether, decyl glucoside, hydrolyzed wheat protein, hydrolyzed keratin, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, propylene glycol, etidronic acid, polyquaternium 7, hydrolyzed silk, fragrance. Neutralizing milk ingredients: water, cetearyl alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, etidronic acid, dimethicone, polyquaternium 37, ceteareth 30, cetrimonium chloride, sodium hydroxide, propylene glycol dicaprylate/dicaprate, dimethicone, hydroxycetyl hydroxyethyl dimonium chloride, 2,6 dicarboxypyridine, ppg 1 trideceth 6. |
Since the neutralizer milk contains sodium hydroxide which is the same product used in relaxers (lye) I did not use it. I stopped putting a relaxer in my hair and did not want to use the product since it contains the same ingredient of Lye. I know that individuals that have used keratin products that are on the market have been happy with the results so i wonder how many of them contain the same sodium hydroxide (LYE) in order to make the hair straight. It would be interesting to see. I think the results a person achieves will depend on the hair texture. I don't think I would use this over a relaxer since it only lasts for 6 weeks. If I were to start wearing my hair straight again it seems like it would be more advantageous to use a relaxer/texturizer rather than this product since it lasts longer. Also, I am not sure if you apply it only to new growth after the 6 week period. When a person gets a relaxer/texturizer and goes for a touch up it is only on the new growth that the product should be applied because if it is used all over your hair will start to fall out. I had this happen when i was going to a salon to get my hair done. I can have someone else do the relaxer/texturizer in my hair whereas this product would require me to apply it although a person could probably have their hairdresser put it in. I would figure after all that i would just have them use whatever they have onhand at the salon rather than having to bring my own product.
